I am the son of a miner, and I share my family’s story and how it is closely connected to Estonia’s oil shale industry.

As a tour guide, I take visitors to the village of Tammiku and on hikes to the spoil heap of the former Tammiku Mine, offering a unique insight into the region’s mining heritage. The tour ends in the courtyard of the Miner’s House, where guests can enjoy coffee and homemade cake on request.

I live in Alutaguse Municipality, where I enjoy spending time in nature, gardening, flower arranging, handicrafts, dancing, and expressing my creativity through new ideas and projects.

With many years of experience as a teacher in the natural sciences, I have also led a variety of creative workshops and hobby groups. I am an active member of several local non-profit organisations, which allow me to continue developing myself while contributing to the local community.

Alutaguse is a region close to my heart, and I especially enjoy guiding visitors through this beautiful area. My tours introduce the unique heritage, traditions, and everyday life of the Rannapungerja and Tudulinna areas along the shores of Lake Peipsi.

My personal motto is: “The wisdom of our ancestors is what helps us endure in every age.” I have made it my mission to preserve this wisdom and share it with others. If you would like to discover the stories, traditions, and knowledge of this remarkable region, I would be delighted to share them with you.

I am a certified tour guide in Ida-Viru County, a nature guide, teacher, and health promotion specialist. As a guide, my greatest strength is the ability to create meaningful connections between nature, cultural heritage, and people’s stories. I help visitors understand how a place has shaped its people, communities, landscapes, and natural environment. For me, a tour is not simply about moving from one location to another—it is about truly understanding where you are, what makes the place unique, and why it deserves to be discovered.

The places closest to my heart include Alutaguse National Park, the Mäetaguse oak grove and wooded meadows, the region’s manor heritage, local nature trails, and the landscapes shaped by Estonia’s oil shale mining industry. To me, these are not just attractions but stories that reveal the unique character and identity of Ida-Viru County.

If you would like to discover Ida-Viru County with someone who knows the region through professional expertise, personal experience, and genuine passion, I would be delighted to be your guide.

I am a tour guide, hiking guide, and outdoor adventure coach – the kind of person who takes you into the forest, a city, or even a quarry, and will most likely bring you back on time.

I organise walking tours, hiking adventures, and coach tours throughout Ida-Viru County. I especially enjoy guiding groups who want to do more than simply look around—they want to listen, experience, ask questions, and, most importantly, get off the bus from time to time. If you’re looking for a quick drive-by sightseeing tour, there are plenty of other guides who do that better.

I know Ida-Viru County and many neighbouring regions extremely well. My favourite places include the landscapes and forest villages of Alutaguse National Park, the Agusalu dune ridges and the historic villages of the Poluvernik community, the ancient sites of Purtse and Lüganuse, the banks of the Narva River, the Kurtna Lake District, the Baltic Klint, the Sinimäed Hills, quarries, artificial mining hills, and the towns of Kohtla-Järve, Kiviõli, and Sillamäe.

I work closely with local museums, visitor centres, and people who know these places best, because the finest stories are not always found in books. In fact, some of them are probably better left unwritten.

I also organise themed excursions to lesser-known places, ranging from memorial stones and ancient sacred stones to industrial sites and wartime fortifications.

In Ida-Viru County, the most fascinating stories often begin where the paved road ends.

Guided tours introducing the recent past (from the 1980s), present day and future of Narva-Jõesuu, led by a local native who has been involved in the city’s administration for many years and continues to participate in its development today.

The tours are based on personal experiences of life in Narva-Jõesuu during the Soviet period, the 1990s, and more recent times. They include stories and background explanations of events that cannot be found online, as well as an overview of the city’s future plans.

By prior arrangement, it is also possible to include a visit to the Narva-Jõesuu Lighthouse.

I am not originally from Ida-Viru County, but I have had the honour of living here since 2020. The excursions closest to my heart are the ones in the village of Tammiku and at Tammiku Mine Hill, where mining history, local stories, industrial heritage, and nature come together.

We finish the Tammiku Mine Hill excursions in the garden of the Miner’s House, where the exhibition “The Story of a Miner’s Family” is on display. As the hostess of the house, I offer cake and coffee on the terrace.

But why not join me for a hike to the top of another hill or explore the Aidu quarry area together?

I am a true fan of Ida-Viru County, and for me this region is Ida-Võlumaa — the Land of Eastern Magic.

I was born and went to school in Narva. I have lived in Narva-Jõesuu since 1976. I have gathered information about the town through my work as a city secretary, collaborating with local businesses and various organisations.

I have also compiled the books “Flavours of Narva-Jõesuu” and “Civic and Community Associations in Narva-Jõesuu”, and together with Madis Tuuder, I created the album “Hungerburg – Narva-Jõesuu 1873–2013.”

My last position before retirement was at the Narva-Jõesuu Local History Museum, where I introduced visitors to local history and collected materials, memories, and photographs for a digital exhibition on the themes of “The Heritage of Fishing and Coastal Life in Narva-Jõesuu.”

Narva-Jõesuu is a place very close to my heart, and I am happy to share its stories with visitors. I organise walking tours and bus tours in the town, introducing the history of Narva-Jõesuu as a resort and fishing community, as well as its nature and everyday life today.
